INTER START BRIGHTLY

Inter Milan started the season in bright fashion and they were even contenders for the title at one stage in the campaign. However, it has all disappeared in the last few months, as they have slipped out of contention even for the top four positions.

This has put intense pressure on manager Walter Mazzarri, who saw his team get beaten 1-0 by Genoa. After the encounter, the former Napoli manager said that his team did not deserve to lose. He is aware that this is a very difficult time for the club, but it will soon pass off.

This has been regarded as a year of transition for the club after their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Now, they look set to miss out on yet another season without the premier European competition, as only the top three clubs can qualify for it. Inter have managed just one win in the last seven matches, but Mazzarri refuse to fault his players. He said that they have been giving their 100%, and the only thing missing from the team right now could possibly be the care shown towards the end of the matches.

Mazzarri was brought in as replacement for Andrea Stramaccioni in the summer. He came with a reputation of achieving a lot with Napoli in the last few years.
"We didn't deserve to lose. This is a delicate time that will pass. The important thing is to have the right mentality because this is a year of transition for us. I want a team that always goes out on the pitch determined to win and we showed that against Genoa. I cannot demand anything more from players. The only thing perhaps is that they need to be a bit more careful in the last stages of the game and we will work on this in training," Mazzarri said.
