MESSI - OUT OF THIS WORLD

Stephen Keshi, the Nigeria boss, has hailed Lionel Messi for his phenomenal soccer abilities.

According to Keshi, the 27-year old striker seems to have come from a different planet.

Keshi was answering the questions of the reporters yesterday night. When he was asked about Messi, he said, “He is an absolute beauty. I can’t praise him enough. The Argentinean team has got some other highly talented guys as well, but, Messi is class apart. You’ve got to give it to him. I reckon he has come from some other planet.”

Messi has scored 4 goals in the 3 matches that he has played in the ongoing FIFA World Cup so far. He has struck in every match and has emerged out as a serious contender for the Golden Boot award. He has become a firm favourite of fans who wager in-play on soccer, with his first and last goals helping me (amongst others) to make some good money from the World Cup!

Messi had failed to live up to the expectations in the last World Cup. His indifferent form was one of the main reasons behind Argentina’s mediocre performance in the tournament in South Africa 4 years back. But, in this year’s tournament, the Barcelona talisman is making up for that.

The way Messi scored the first goal against Nigeria yesterday in the 3rd minute was enough to suggest that he is in peak from right now. So, the teams that are going to face Argentina in the World Cup from here on will have their tasks cut out.

Keshi, however, thought that despite Messi’s heroics, Nigeria could have prevented the defeat in the match and secured at least one point if his players had taken Argentina on like any other opponent.

The Nigeria manager said, “We should have seen Argentina like any other team and should have played our natural game. But, we didn’t do that. We tried to respect them way too much and that resulted in our defeat.”
