Liverpool Receive Offer For Kolo Toure

It is understood that Liverpool have received an offer from Turkish club Trabzonspor for defender Kolo Toure. After coming to Anfield only last summer on a free transfer from Manchester City, Touré went on to make 24 appearances in all competitions. He also created two goals as well.
However, first-team opportunities became very limited in the second half of the campaign after Brendan Rodgers decided to use Martin Skrtel along with Sakho. The return of Daniel Agger has also increased the competition for Touré.

He could have been the first player to win the Premier league title with three different teams, but Liverpool narrowly lost out on the race towards the end of the campaign. It has been heavily rumoured that the Ivory Coast international will be leaving the club after just one season. The interest from Trabzonspor amongst many other clubs appears almost certain. Trabzonspor are understood to have made an official offer for the player, but Liverpool are keen on keeping him. Brendan Rodgers recently stated that Touré was extremely important to the team since provides a lot of experience.

Liverpool have signed as much as six players in the transfer window, while the list is expected to extend until the window closes in the first week of September.

"Kolo has been an incredible player. We brought him in because he is a winner, an authentic winner. He's someone who doesn't play every single week but when he does play, he plays very well. Every day of his life in training, he gives his all. Players like Kolo and Steven Gerrard, the older statesmen of the team, have been absolutely first class. We're hungry and ambitious; we went close last year,” said the manager prior to the start of the pre-season.

Liverpool will be taking on the likes of AC Milan in pre-season friendly matches.
